Your individual TCO calculation

Calculation of the TCO is based on the following variables:

• Number of Notes/Domino applications/DBs
• Number of SAP processes to be included
• Number of processes per day
• Costs for the development of individual interfaces in € per day

In our example, five Domino/Notes applications/DB's (Internet self-service) and ten SAP CRM® processes (e.g., checking for duplication, master data comparison, creation of a new master record, etc.) are included in the overall process. Twenty-five new applications are automatically transferred every day. We are assuming a cost of €550 per day for in-house development of individual interfaces.

The results in our example show that the total cost of the project over a period of three years works out to nearly 70 percent less through the utilization of the CONET Translator than through individual development.

By using the TRANSLATOR the installation and implementation phases are markedly reduced: Installation of the Adapter only takes a few hours (in comparison with the development of individual services, for which, as a rule, several days per service are required for the actual programming as well as testing). This isn't much different when it comes to implementation: Based on the existing default logic, individual processes can here, too, be realized in just a few hours time.

Even when considering a lengthy period of time – in our example three years – the advantages of a standard software solution can be seen: Compared with individual development, error rate is significantly lower and processes are continuously monitored, which reduces administrative overhead. And through certification it is ensured that even when updating applications (e.g., an EHP for an SAP CRM®) interfaces function faultlessly without requiring customization or lengthy testing.

A further advantage is that the CONET products are available without restriction for all other SAP NetWeaver®-based business process models, providing further added value.

The TCO calculation clearly shows that the use of standard software, when considered in the medium term, brings considerable cost benefits when compared with individual development.
