Your individual ROI calculation

The anticipated ROI was just as important for the final assessment of the business case (individual solution v. standard components).

For this the costs of the manual transfer of data gathered by the customer was compared with the costs of an automation of the process using the CONET Translator XInotes Adapter. The ROI Calculator was called into play here, with the following variables serving as a basis:

• Number of required fields per dataset entered
• Number of new or updated datasets per day
• Personnel costs in € per day, e.g., for the Service Center

In our example, 25 new entries with 17 required fields per dataset were manually transferred to the SAP CRM® per day. We are assuming an amount of €350 per day for internal personnel costs in the Service Center.

The results show that through an automation of the process stages a positive ROI – in regard to overall project costs – was achieved after only five months.

In addition to the directly traceable costs (manual effort v. license fees), monetary consideration for errors and their effects on manual data transfer (e.g., transposed digits in account numbers) were also considered.
